As a superbowl ads fan since the time I was working in a video advertising agency in 2000 (called KissFilms), I am always astonished by the fact that these ads are so hard to find online with the right date, and edition. Even on YouTube, you have to search and filtrate. I really enjoyed the Yahoo! Jumpcut young director’s contest Crash The Superbowl, back in 2007.
In 2009, perhaps due to the amazing popularity of Twitter, I have to follow the Superbowl Ads Twitter account to actually find these ads! This is nonsense. The XLIII ads are everywhere and nowhere to be found, except at www.superbowl-ads.com And we can not embed them, talk about virality. They talk about buzz, internet distribution, but by having a poor sharing strategy, are they trying to kill the Superbowl Ads Fans?
I enjoy viewing this Superbowl Ads Analysis from, Deborah Mitchell, this Marketing and Consumer Behavior Expert. She is also a professor of consumer psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is trying to get the essence of the 2009′s United States Mood of the Country. I guess we will have to stay tuned to discover what this year will bring us.
Key discoveries:
- People actually watch the ads
- Social marketers love this massive outreach
- Marketers will be pushing the envelope
- The expectations are huge in turbulent times: nostalgia, emotions, sexiness, feel-good advertising (?), etc.
Things to Watch:
- Danika Patrick reprensenting GoDaddy.com. Check the official Danika Patrick website.
- The One-Second Ad (as Benoit Descary told me when I saw him at the YulBiz)
- The Pedigree Dog Food Ad
